White-tailed Deer in the Shuswap

Hello, Nice to see you here in the Shuswap Lake area of southern British Columbia, Canada. Yes winter is here and you’ve been looking for pictures of Virginia or White-tailed Deer? What’s been going on with Odocoileus virginianus this winter? Come and have a look around at the White-tailed Deer in the Shuswap winter.

White-tailed Fawn in winter

Today this doe and fawn are bedded down in the snow for a mid morning rest. What will they do for the rest of the day? Enjoying the sunshine for now, later on they will take a walk up the path and visit the bird feeder about 3:00pm for a look and a browse. Staying close to the yard, where the snow is not so deep, this fawn and doe are quite at home. They do stay close to the forest edge in case a quick getaway is required. Nobody will bother them here. They are part of the family, safe here for as long as they choose to remain.

White-tailed Doe in winter

Only a few years ago, this doe was herself the fawn of the family. Now she shows her young one the trails and paths which we sometimes cross. Staying on the same game trail makes it easier for the White-tailed deer in the winter, although the snow is not as deep this year. These White-tailed Deer have been foraging along the beaver dams which divide the frozen lower ponds. There is tasty Red Osier Dogwood to be found. White-tailed Deer will eat twigs, shrubs and in the fall will eat choice mushrooms and other fungi. Not to mention browsing around in the garden for fresh strawberry plants or a tender young raspberry twig.

Virginia Deer

The deer can disappear quickly into the forest. They are going to the ridge, where they have a good view of what is going on and plenty of warning if danger is approaching. The ridge is usually the first place I look for them when out for a morning snowshoe.

Odocoileus virginianus

When alarmed the Odocoileus virginianus will raise or flag its tail, showing a white flash to signal danger to the other deer. White-tails will snort and stamp the ground. White-tailed deer are excellent swimmers and will take to the water to escape from insects, predators or just to cool down in the Shuswap summer.

Hello, before we get back to the Shuswap, a feather has come to light, and words must be said.

The Boy and the Eagle Feather

By Dawn Kellie

An Eagle feather fell from the heavens; it floated silently down to the earth. A boy found the feather; he knew not where it came from. But he knew it must return one day to where it belonged. But he did not know how or when. He would find out why in time.

Throughout his life he lived, loved and was loved. As he grew older, the draw of the eagle feather led him to his own path. On the way some of his experiences were good and others were due to his own choices that perhaps, others would not have made. But we did not have the draw of the eagle feather in our lives.

The heavens and the universe and the people he touched along his way are all part of it. And in a short time he was ready to call on strength of the eagle feather and the beliefs he had gained, and the emergent power from our sudden loss.

They line the cliffs, great warriors young and old standing tall, brave and magnificent 10,000 strong. The great chief awaits the next, with his headdress massive and flowing to the earth with ancient heritage and old time tradition. His powerful stead, strong and ready to lead. 50 hands high mottled Palouse, eminence grise. He too had eagle feathers woven and braided leather tied throughout his mane, brushing on the earth with his great strides of time and place. They are safe together; the great chief looks after his own.

The lone eagle feather is not alone, but is the one, of the ten thousand and one. Riding tall and brave he joins their numbers to become his own part of their heritage and his and his fathers and his father’s fathers before. He is part of them and he is where his journey has led him. He is there and has earned his second eagle feather. One day his headdress shall be full of feathers and one day again, a small child will find his feather, so he too, can find his way to where his place is.

Only he can understand why and where his eternal place is. It matters not how he got there, but the love and guidance he received along the way there. He is not alone there. He will never be forgotten here. The Boy and the Eagle Feather.

Wheeling and soaring, now with talons locked together, their spiral free fall from the sky, exhilarating, only strengthens their beings and their bond. Freedom and another feather to be saved, treasured and returned, gradation from life to past. The great chief awaits, thunder clouds rise, the mottled Palouse rears, an eagle feather falls from the heavens, it floats silently down to the earth. A destiny shaped, a future determined, a path home, a feather to guide, a life to love. He is not alone there. He will never be forgotten here. The Boy and the Eagle Feather.

Hello, Thank you for waiting and returning to my blog! I really appreciate your visits and comments.
You asked about The Gulf of Mexico, the oil spill and the following sadness of the planet. And still more has happened since, in the slowness of my response. Are they not markers? Road markers of what is yet to come? We can change them, we can not always prevent, so we should not sometimes attempt, when it comes to the health of our habitat, our planet.

Tears of the Gulf

I cry with the bear,
The rock stands strong,
The planets shift,
What does the Quatrain say?

The rock cries for the Gulf.
I can’t tell you turtle,
the Gulf is no more.
I cry, the bear, the turtle,
the rock knows how long.
He has seen it before.
The burst in the galaxy will continue.

The rock stood strong,
the planets shift.
The dinosaur cries,
the Gulf cries.
Tears of oil,
tears of the Gulf,
tears of the planet.

Turtle,
What have we done?
To the white bear,
and the sea turtle,
the elephant again?

The giant rock clock
21 Dec 2012,
21,12,12.
It stopped again,
Rock clock maker.
Come back.

Recalibrate time.
Has it been 3 million years?
Please save the Gulf, the turtle, the tree.
The World.
Maker, there has now been something else.

Turtle,
What have we done this time?
To the white bear,
and the sea turtle and mankind?
What have we done?
The End. Is It?
Not yet, not just yet.

Turtle I shall never tell you. Your life must be free and natural. We are not the ones to make the changes, they come from another place. For you turtle, I just want you to be happy. Live free turtle, live happy. Do not be burdened by the sadness, only move forward and do what you can. It does matter. From one to the next to the next. It does matter and you do count. You do matter.

For more pictures and the daily life of the Western Painted Turtle, here are links on my Shuswap Lake Photos website to my Western Painted Turtle page. “Happy Turtle Day to You”. The word “Turtle” being translated something like: a four-legged, toothless, slow-moving reptile, but not always slow!

Are you looking for more Canadian content? Not sure what to call it, fiction, family, just something to read today…. The Crescendo of a Byline, the crescendo of my heart.
Again, the time goes by, what positive progress have I made today? Tomorrow I shall ask the same question, and will moved forward in my life. You can, I must believe I can. To stand strong with the rock, the turtle, the bear and with the planet. We all matter together. We are mankind.

Hello! Glad to Bee Home in the Shuswap. Thanks for all your care and special attention. Here we go, ready to see what is going on in the Shuswap and who is flying around?

Bee Home

The Shuswap has been quite smokey from the Notch Hill or Hilliam Mountain Forest Fire. This wildfire was caused by lightning and is 40% contained last I read. Thanks to all the firefighters out there. Air and Ground Crews alike. The first photo shows Sorrento, taken from across the lake at Scotch Creek and the second is the Shuswap Lake Estates Subdivision from the Blind Bay side.

Notch Hill (Hilliam Mountain) Wildfire

Blind Bay with the Notch Hill Wildfire in back ground

If you are heading over to Scotch Creek, you will be using the brand new Adams River Bridge. The now obsolete old bridge still stands in our memories only, as it was being dismantled that very day. A new bridge to be crossed, more experiences in life to live and learn from. A new key for every door. Step through.

Adams River Bridge August 2009

Planning on doing some boating while you’re in the Shuswap? The marinas are busy and boating couldn’t be any better. From pontoons to mainsails, you can see it on the Shuswap. There’s a boat out there for everyone and beach too.

Boats and Boats

     Is That You?

Everybody is out enjoying the water of the Shuswap Lake and other small lakes in the area. Go for a swim, the water is wonderful. Stop in for a visit on your way by. Would you happen to be swimming over to the old orchard? Originally planted 100 years ago, the heritage apple trees still provide an abundance of fresh fruit. The old homestead also has an abundance of Cherries, Strawberries and Common Hops growing wild now. Lots of old stories, will you be part of the new ones? I enjoy your company, and your laughter.

    Cool Swim

The marsh is quiet. Morning mist now rises from the small lake. Still hot in the daytime but the weather has changed as we are now into the last week of August. The marsh has changed also. The young birds have taken flight and small rafts of ducks gather up. Already I can see the yellow of Autumn in the bulrush. Also in the bulrush is this little Muskrat having a morning treat. He swims under water and chews off small bulrush then back to shore to eat them up. Cute little creature, beautiful fur, interesting hands.

Ondatra zibethicus - Muskrat

From the lake to the marsh and now the forest surrounds me. The afternoon breeze moves every leaf while the treetops hold firm. Today I hear noises in the forest. Every dark shadow gets a second glance. I know who is there and where he is headed. I don’t think he cares that the fruit is not quite ripe yet. He hasn’t been on his own long. We’ll just go have another look at the big lake, and get a picture of a different shape.

Ursus Shaped

This is a different shape on the Shuswap. Houseboating draws people from all over to share in the lifestyle here. On and off the grid, lake or forest “ Please help by being environmentally aware”. There’s good reason, a lifetime of reason.

Shuswap Lake Houseboat

Don’t forget to look up. Focus, edit and believe in yourself. You can make a difference, do the right thing. Fly to where your goals and dreams will take you. Yes, there’s alot of hard work involved, but it is all worth it. Our Blog Stats are really flying too. Wow, we are up to 7080. I don’t think I have ever typed such a big number. Fantastic!

Friendly Flyer

Until our next visit and update.

Hello, Hello There! How are you doing? Glad to see You and the Shuswap sunshine with temperatures back up to 12 degrees. It’s been wonderful and only the biggest of the snowbanks are left now. I have been out trying to take some current photographs for you. Haven’t been down to the big lake yet, spring yard work time here, but let’s go have a look or two while the sun is shining. The new modern camera is ready, black and white to go please! “Smile and say Spring!” I am very happy to see you Friend.

Smile

A photo shy Western Painted Turtle that you have been searching for, she is a lovely creature. They grow as big as dinner plates and mid June they travel from the water to the shore to lay their eggs in a freshly dug underground nest. Danger lurks if the Raven sees the turtles, as he will flip them upside down and eat all the eggs. I walk the nesting sites and flip over the upturned turtles so they can return to the small mountain lake and begin the process again, undisturbed this time. Other predators are always on the look out for unsuspecting turtles, or anything else that might taste good in the marsh for an afternoon snack. No I’ll pass on the soup Thanks!

Western Painted Turtle

A young otter has returned to the marsh by himself this spring. He has followed the watercourses that lead up from Shuswap Lake to this small mountain lake, a refuge for animals like him. His travels have new hazards throughout the Shuswap Lake. What did you see at the mouth of the Adams River? What happened to your family?

Otter

Mouth of the Adams River

But something else lurks here in the marsh today. On the outside its big and scary but on the inside its technical, friendly, partial to Nanaimo Squares and lives down the road. My friends just want to have a look at you neighbour! ” Hello under there Mr.Photographer, love your camera!” Can you see Shuswap Lake from there? That’s quite the “Get Up” you have on, but “Hey what ever it takes to get the job done”. Just be yourself, even if you have to stick out in the crowd sometimes. Do the right thing, make your statement and be a benefit to society. Record the History. If you are shy, that’s ok too because Smudgy does the same thing!

Here we go. Can’t you feel the wind in your hair and inboard is revving. Hello Shuswap Lake. This is why they all come here to southern BC. Fresh water and fresh air, we would like to keep it that way for a long time. Where are you heading too? Shuswap Lake Provincial Park in Scotch Creek or Herald’s Park at Sunnybrae? Both have beautiful beachs and great campsites. Scotch Creek has mini golf and the Park store. You may even want to stroll the trails at the Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park to the mouth of the Adams River where the Sockeye Salmon run happens. If you’re boating “Hello to the Houseboats out on the lake” I can hear you on the walkie talkie from up here. Enjoy the lake, watch the sky, be safe.

Looks like this guy is off to get his Pleasure Craft Operator Card. Make sure and take the test before September 15 2009. “I’ll pass on the ride too Thanks!” There is a reason for paying attention on the lake, as they come from all sides.

This is more like it for me, Dunvegan Ferry 1949. We will come back to this area and era later on and take a trip circa 1951 up the Alaska Highway to Port Radium NWT. Actually to the Eldorado Mine and Acid Plant with some never before seen photos of the fire which I do believe was winter 1951 – 52. Interesting bridges along the route.

Dunvegan Ferry 1949

Back at home up here on the mountain, this pair of young White-tail Deer have been staying pretty close to the yard. It will only be matter of time before they realize the garden is planted and growing again this year. I think they have been there before and did a good job grazing on the strawberry patch. They bound away gracefully to another part of the yard when they see us. I have not seen the first bear of the season yet. It is a just a matter of time……

   One Two

This picture was taken yesterday, May 10 2009 as a matter of fact. As you can see there is still snow high up in the mountains yet. Already the marinas are filling up, and the fisherman are trolling the shores of Shuswap Lake for Rainbow trout. Another summer and everyone is gearing up for camping season 2009 in the Shuswap.

  Shuswap Lake

If there is going to be any wrestling, then it will be with our Blog Stats as they are so big, they hardly fit on the page now. Thanks for stopping in, or riding by and waving anyway. I think I will stick to this end of the cow so at least I can see it charging at me. You need a new hobby Mr. Cowboy. How about sitting down nicely and counting our Blog Stats of the rodeo number of 6113. Thanks for hanging in there.

It is time to say “Goodbye” once again, and time to say “Goodbye” permanently to the one lane Adams River Bridge which is being replaced by a brand new bridge approximately June 2009. You will be impressed. And you will be most certainly impressed by what a great job the flag people are doing out there. Does that mean the one lane Scotch Creek Bridge is next?

Goodbye Adams River Bridge

”See You Again”. Lots of pictures to go through, I know you are waiting for beach and boat pictures too. Some new and historic “Bridge” pictures in the works for you to see. Thanks for stopping in the Shuswap!

Hello Again, Nice to See You! Welcome to the Outdoors! We’re just having a look around to see what’s going on around the Shuswap and beyond. Don’t have any home movies, but we’ve got lots of pictures to share with you. Today was a beautiful sunny day that we’ve been waiting for. Bird count at the feeder daily is: 4 Red-winged Blackbirds, 11 Stellars Jays, 2 Gray Jays and several Black-capped Chickadees. Now I was pretty sure I saw a newcomer briefly, will be watching out for him. Always love a mystery of time, place or somewhere new. Metamorphosis time, culture shock, and the rock. Rock of ages, times over and over. Be strong and steadfast. Do the right thing. What happy people. I love this picture, but I love them all. Thanks for being so friendly.

Welcome, Nice to See You In The Shuswap!

Quite a pile of snow here yet, mid March we should start seeing bare ground and look at that Blue Sky in the Sunny Shuswap! You may have noticed that I have changed the time settings, so my blog updates are on our real time here. Couldn’t have you thinking I stay up till 3:00 in the morning and miss a day like this!

Sunny Shuswap Day

I did have short break from the snow and went south for my first big trip. Wow! As I said in Shuswap Lake Photos also at WordPress “It is all they said it would be”. And same goes for the Shuswap “It is all we said it would be”. The lifestyle, people and things to do. Places, walks and history. Another view of winter from my perspective for your thoughts. As I was taking this photo, an Otter at the far end of the frozen lake was running and sliding across the ice and snow. Very brave of him as a couple hours earlier, another creature was on the lake. Not some one the Otter would like to meet.

Winter View

Firestorm 2003 Activities on the lake.

One of my favorite little Spring plants Prince’s Pine, a dwarf evergreen shrub which is first and greenest to appear in the spring. Also known by the name “Pipsissewa” it is so very bright and cheery, cheima philos – winter loving it is. Waxy looking and suspect root parasite, but lovely none the less. Another pink flowered plant with trumpet-like shaped flowers is Linnaea borealis shown on the sidebar.

Chimaphila umbellata

A Golden Shiny Day picture for you, Cygnus columbianus. Our native Tundra swan with seven foot wingspan, stopped in the marsh earlier last year. Stretching across the summer sky, Cygnus is rich in a multitude of star clusters, nebulae and an important bright star in the Summer Triangle. The Eagle is to the east.

Cygnus columbianus

If I could paint, I would paint this. But maybe I can paint? I have the interest, heart and desire. But can I? I don’t know how. Do I? Do I? I have never applied the techniques, took control of the energy, and achieved the solution and creation. How can I? Stop searching for the answers, apply them. You’ve had them along, apply the answer. Do the right thing. Just do it.

South Thompson River West of Chase

Positively, love this picture. A view of the South Thompson River west of Chase on the way to Kamloops, frequented by Trumpeter and Tundra Swans along with Outlaw Old Bill Miner circa 1906. The first train robber in Canada, and they say he had very good manners during the robberies, so that was nice to know. He held up stagecoaches too and if you are ever in Merritt, there was a clothing store that had the last strong box used by the stagecoaches. What else has the river seen and what stories could it share artist? Herds of wild horses and salmon drying? The last scenery picture for you today. I opted not to show you a winter picture, as there still will be lots of those pictures around. I do like to include a photograph or two for any fellows that happen to read this weblog. How about a picture of a really big boat? How would the USS Missouri Battleship in Pearl Habour do for a start? And yes, there are ”No Hunting” signs all over those hills.

South Thompson River West of Chase Too

Really sorry to say “Goodbye Again” already or better yet “Until Next Time!” I will be here working on my next weblog update, with another round of pictures for you. Thanks for the cake and all your cheers. We enjoyed your company very much, not sure just who these people are, but counting our blog statistics all the way up to 5225, 5226, 5227 was incredibly fascinating. Take Care and Until Next Time!

We’re Going to Miss You

Hello, lots to catch up on. Winter showed up mid December. We have snow! And lots of it, in the last 24 hours. It has not stopped snowing all day and the wind has been blowing, more like gusting. I did venture outside briefly, as the fire wood box was getting kind of low. It was refreshing and quite brisk. But hey, a real Canadian winter, what more could we ask for? Someone else was out and about too, when there was a short break in the weather. Nice coat. Healthy animal. He does has a good voice because I have heard him and his pack, many times. He is not alone out there. He is brave, bold, venturous and handsome. Most of all, he is Sleek and Sly, the brightest of all stars. We have met before. Sometimes he sees me, but today I see him. Canis latrans found only in North and Central America. Very adaptable, Mr Coyote.

Sleek and Sly

I am not really sure if this is a Winter picture or if it is, a Summer picture. I do know for sure, that this picture was taken circa 1960….. In July, yes July, the one in the summertime. That’s what I said, July in Northern Alberta camping in a tent. Still a pretty good time to camp if you’re prepared enough. But some how the Shuswap says a whole other story of camping, and houseboats and being out there, under the stars. And the heat. Shuswap Sunshine. And speaking of Sunshine! Maybe some of my pictures may be from somewhere else soon. Somewhere I have never been before! A surprize, especially if I get there! Although I have never been anywhere before, I may be almost “been from somewhere” soon. But, will keep you posted if all works out, out here, look at all the trees, out here. All the trees covered in snow! But no clues for now until all is planned and proceeding. Do I have to take my tent?

July in Northern Alberta

There is not alot I can say about this picture. Only another seven, eight months before this kind of weather is back. Here any way! Living the Shuswap, and if you have a look over on the sidebar, you will see the Carmel Beach condos on the Shuswap. Something always going on.

July in the Shuswap

What a Tree! That’s a heck of a big picture too! But having a fancy tree with all those lights is pretty exciting to see around our place. We don’t often have that much electricity on in the same place. Being off the main power grid, we like to have our lightbulbs spread around the house, instead of all in the same spot. Don’t believe me do you? You should, it is all real. Some times in the really cold winters, we will leave the generator running all night long. Strange to have lights at night. Saw a set of three one time, neighbour too. It was Triangle in origin. Must of been some tree, there’s alot going on there too. The memories hang on as decorations do. Time for new. How can I make a difference? How can I help? What can I say. Does it make a difference? I think it does. Stay strong little tree. Shine Bright my friend. Shine on! You will figure out what to do in the best way you can.

Oh Christmas Tree

This morning the temperature in the back porch which is enclosed and totally sheltered is reading -22. Yes 22 below. Day before was only -16. Time to get the warmest coat out of the closet, which just happens to be a Hudson’s Bay Coat. They made pretty good blankets too. Wow, that was a long time ago. Square Dancers to, they were and loved it. And the outdoors. Still do. But they no longer take the photos, mind’s eye has them safe and sound. The next generation must continue on and show the next.

Hudson Bay Coat

Only weeks ago there was no snow, my young friend here, was thinking. On a Saturday pre snow morning, I set out to take a picture of him. Turned around and there he was. Magnicient, he is. We walked along the overgrown trail until he disappeared silently into the forest. He just stepped into the brush, he is close by though. ”Good Morning “and “Thanks” for letting me take your picture. He really is handsome. Now we must move on to winter and snow pictures. Perhaps you would like to be in one of my winter pictures to Odocoileus virginianus?

Saturday Deer

And now this is what our current Saturday looks like. Cold white and a Real Canadian Winter. But that’s ok, cause I have a plan in motion to take some other photographs that won’t make you feel so snowy. But as I said, “no clues” yet. Our blog stats have been adding up, although it has been awhile again, since my last update. Thanks for coming back. As you can tell I do get side tracked, but it looks like it will be a long winter. It may take me all winter long to add up the spectacular amount of blog stats which are at 4359. Certainly incredible. Almost as many as all the snow flakes!

My Driveway

Have a safe Holiday Season. Enjoy all the family, food and get togethers. Call a Taxi and be Safe. “Please don’t Drink and Drive”. Not everybody looks this great behind bars. My little friend Neotoma cinerea, the infamous Pack Rat was relocated down the hill, to a lovely old log barn. Next time he comes back I’ll get a better round of photos for you. And maybe, just maybe there will be some sunny beach photos in there too! But no clues yet! Have a Happy New Year as I hope to update in early January 2009. Wow the year 2009!

Please Don’t Drink and Drive!

Who said Fall? It’s here already, yellow leaves falling onto the ground, touched by frost ever so gently. Once already, twice soon. As this is a Camouflage Blog for you, I am sure you know what to expect, but maybe not who! Have been catching up on some visiting lately and not yet ready to say Good Bye. The first Canada Goose has showed up, so we know Summer is over. There are 6 Mallards still here, and all other waterfowl have moved on to regroup and prepare to leave southward bound. Onward group, sisters too.

Safe Among Friends

Everybody is out and about for a look. This probably isn’t the best time for you right now. Go back to the forest and stay out of sight for the next few months. Leave the curiosity for the cats now. Just as curious as that new Charger in the car lot, although I’m devoted to Jeep, what can I say! Another Street Machine! Hi There, Thanks for the new comments. I did accidentally loose a comment from a busty friend, how about a Moosey Picture! If you could see these friends of the forest and wetland, perhaps you will be more conscience of their habitat. That is why it is there, that is why they are there. They need it, and its changing fast. Ours too. My shadow does as my footprint is. GPS, DNA, code DaVinci, circles and RPM’s that come back to us. There is another generation, there always has been, until we started to change things. Do not change the precession of the equinoxes, the pyramids will shake to sand. Grey Thundercloud will step forward and so must we. Protect the Environment, Please Start Now. It will take forever, it is for all.

  Young moose called Alces

As you can see in this family resemblance, some traits are most definetly there, whether we can picture them or not. Yes, the Old Ways still can be the best, but being open to the new are just as important. Keeping open minded and understanding, willing to try something different or out of the circle of same. A tall photo for a tall shadow. Step forward shadow, say your peace, spelling correct, so is the time. This is the time to speak up and be so sure, for once and for all. Times are changing. Can you see it in the pictures and the cameras too. I remember them, but it was a different time, even the shadows have changed and the sun and ground on which they lay. The keys of music and all the secrets of the languages, circles in the fields and mind”s eye. What are they Shadow Man? What are they?

Shadow Man

Had the need to show my fine friend here, as sleek as can be, silent and sharp, he lives in the forest too. He has his own special job to do. This is where he belongs, his place in life. The search does not cross his mind or thoughts, they don’t need to. He has a job and does it well. He has found his place, have you? I still seek some answers and that place, but what steps will I take to get there. This is the first my friend, the wake ripples and I will move forward as I can, as he can through the forest, or is it time. The circle of animals includes all. Do your job my friend, you touch our lives, be a benefit for all and improve the well being of all you can. It will come back to you in that circle and lifetime is only starting to be defined. It too, may be camouflaged by our own eyes and ideas. Time to be real, move foreward and lead the way. Bring home our boys in camouflage, bring them back to their own homes and families.

Sleek Slider

Everything we see, is not always everything that is there. There is much much more, further inside the glance, the light reflected, the thoughts underway. I can see, but can not understand until the search is over. There is something out of place, or maybe it is just not there yet. Has it ever been? Time will disguise or as the French say:

Camouflage

Today everyone seeks shelter. The rain has sent us back to the house and the animals to the forest. Smudgy and I have retreated to the warmth of the wood stove. Today is a quiet day, back to work tomorrow. The declination matters, keep up with the right ascension. Zero point, to the east, and the stars will arise another four minutes early tonight. Then tomorrow, four more, and then again. Ptolemy’s list still stands as Thuban’s four thousand year position. The Maya too say four more. Back to the forest today, out of the rain and the mist. More yellow leaves, the change is coming to the forest and small mountain lake. Be ready.

In the Shadows

This bear is camouflaged behind a blur. He was moving, I was moving and I wasn’t waiting around to get a better picture. He was laying down having a rest as he has pretty well eaten every apple in the old homestead orchard. He broke off some branches that couldn’t support his four hundreds pounds plus. So move along now Thank You. Back to the forest for you too, I don’t want to look out my window to see if you are there any more. But I will look to the North Star as you point Dubhe and Merak, for the last four thousand years,Thuban now Polaris. Whos turn next?

Blurry Bear

What has not been blurred is the Blog Stats and WoW. What a fantastic job you have been doing with them. If I could, I would write to you everyday, although you may think I get side tracked or ramble and you are right again. I enjoy your visits and for taking the time to read my blogs. Will get working on that Blogroll soon. If you would like to see more pictures from ”My Side of the Blog” and what it is like here, Shuswap Lake Photos also at WordPress is my second blog and next to be updated. So once again, Please Bear with Me. Thank You for being one of my favorite numbers in our stats of 3183. Fantastic and so are You. Some day I will go and see from the outside back. I have heard there are alot of people and places out there and I’m making a list. But for today, back to the housework and taking I’ll be heading outside later on for a walk with my trust camera at hand. For now Thanks Again and Good Bye

From My House

Hello Again! Thanks for the new comment. It is very nice to have someone reading my weblogs, I hope you will enjoy and read again. So I thought, how about these photos to start with today, now that it is sunny again. It was great to see you. Dinosaurs and Rocks, I see you still search my blog for “Rock”. It is the strength, strongness or surety? I think it is the long lasting Surety of it all. Forever strong and always there. All-seeing. Another eye, he saw the event to create history. The answers are there. Or is it the stories you seek. I have the pen, if you would like to read? It is just a pen, and can only say, my versions, opinion or thoughts. I am happy to share with you Write In the Shuswap. Yes getting to that soon too! Eyes have it.

Eye Rock

And written too, Providere. And now the message is 115 images, still natural sounds, even the 55 languages of greetings. These third and fourth human artifacts made, now travel beyond the solar system, passing the termination shock. In 40,000 years it will approach a star in Ophiuchus to arrive in 1.7 light years yet and its companion in travel, to Andromeda, same time just as far. So far, for now only. The message is the same, only written differently now and then again. Over for us to read and remember. Is it familiar yet? Remember yet again. Another Golden Record. Another face of a planet. Foot print in space, now it matches. Another day. Another Time. Safe voyage Voyager.

Message of a Different Time

Beyond the shadow there is a bright light. A new journey forward. I can almost see the Road Home if you know where to look. Follow your dream and plans will come together. One step at a time. Where will your journey take you? To the Shuswap perhaps? This Dunvegan Ferry of 1949 is slow going, but it was a different time and the means of travel seemed to work just fine. Nothing complicated. Who knew things had to change. Or do they call it Evolvere.

Then, When, Then

Now, Wow Shuswap Lake and the Houseboats

Now it is Shuswap Time. We have since reached September 1st 2008. This morning early it was only 4 degrees! Yes four above zero. Boats are all getting put away for the season, friends gone home. Even the birds have been gathering in flocks and practising for the big fly south, a first for some. Maybe you are going north? Safe travels little bird. Good waterskiing. You can do anything you set your mind to. Your family is there to help you. If you only knew little bird, you are so loved.

Which brings us to the next blog update which will be a Camouflage Series. There is no way we can camouflage our blog stats because “Thanks to You” they have increased to the absolutely marvelous digits of 2735. Simply Amazing. With More Leaps and Bounds we will continue on and see you again after another week at the job in town, not quite the same as the Calgary Stampede, but hopefully as many surprises to offer you. Thanks for taking the time and being part of this. There really is a bright and shining light! Just walk into it with your heart open and mind clear. You can only ever be yourself and that is all that is asked of you. Just to be you, even if you are on that high horse. Grey Thundercloud Stallion, mane braided, woven with Birch Bark and Cedar Strips, another time. More Stories. Rock on horse!

More Leaps and Bounds

Until next time! Thanks again for dropping in. I see there has been a viewer from the UK. That is really just the greatest thing. Life in the Shuswap is quite wonderful. We are right here in south central British Columbia. If you are going by, stop in for a visit. I don’t have any more home movies, but lots of pictures on hand. I would like to see the next ones in watercolors! One thing at a time. Weblogs to update and more to learn about them. More in the Shuswap to share with you yet. I will be back, I hope you will be too!

xoxoxox

Hello! What a great line to start with! All part of that rural life I guess, comes with “Howdy Neighbour” and “By the way, there’s a bear in your yard”. Although the other day on my way down the hill to work there wasn’t exactly a bear on the road. It was more like, well like, an Ostrich. In fact it was exactly like an Ostrich! A six foot bird. He was running down the forest service road, right there in front of me. I couldn’t hardly believe it myself. I have seen moose, deer, bear and cubs, coyotes and little brown rabbits, but never before have I seen an Ostrich running down the road through the boreal forest. Luckily throughout the rest of the week he or she, has been spotted by the other neighbours so I know I am not nuts. Although I do believe, having an outdoor clothes line is a pretty darn good feature at my house. Not used to all that fancy stuff. Or the fancy way people camp now a days, Never needed all that fancy stuff before! Love this picture of camping or is it now ” An imagine of RVing”? Hard to keep up this all this new stuff!

Time before RVing

Really nice to have you with me today for a read or two! Hopefully I can answer some of those searches you have been seeking. And lovely lunches, those soup and sandwiches, Thank you for checking out my blog! All this downtown stuff is new to me. Like when I ended up in the Oklahoma City Airport! I have been a few places, although I haven’t gone any where! Yet. The piano keys are understood, mathematics, calculus, time is so short, but it is the equation. Orion high over head tells the pyramid story three stars across, the hummingbird and … It is told in the rock and this rock has said it time and time again, but we didn’t listen. Or we just don’t remember any more, sad to lose as the precious plants, animals and first nations. All should be protected and treasured. Everything and all. There is a cloud we need to avoid. Now we need to listen while we can still remember. Hurry. Hurry up. The Rock tells all. And time is now. Live it well. The tears come only after years. But it is the Epiphany that makes the many questions, now reasonable at this state and deserve to be finally addressed. You will not be standing alone and the vent is part of the due course. You will not be alone. Help and understanding are there, The Old Time Stories too. Are you ready? I am. There is a rock for you.

Old Time Stories Rock

Write In the Shuswap will be blogging shortly, and In the Shuswap along with Shuswap Lake Photos will be merged in. Strange they way things work, but stick to the plan. Tonight the keyboard calls and let’s listen for and decide how we can entertain, inform or just enjoy a visit, as I would love to hear your stories. Fibonacci, yupana and the world is calling me. I have dreams to travel the Mediterranean to read the Classic Latin, and to go to Grande Prairie Alberta in October. I think that would be in order. Will discuss with “us4sisters” strange momentums in the world. Humanity calls. What is your answer. The Family is most import and this is a typical weekend, where the kids were outside running around playing and being young souls free of the world. Yes, the music is loud, but what ever it takes to study, grow, and share the Family Experience. It will be remembered.

Family Experience

And the co-incidences still occur. The butterfly flies free. Hello Energetic City I am pleased to read your name and new site, Welcome out here! I don’t have a Baked Alasken but perhaps an Alaskan Highway picture from way back. The ties you ask, They are family. No stipulations, just family, all the way back to the first and the long ice walk And the duty of obligation for the next and forth coming. The drums beat and the music is loud. Shall I continue, it it just a story for your enjoyment. The way i remember the butter churn and fort on top of the chicken coop, There is a little brother who is sick, But he will get better, Rex is there too, for him. I like her very much and she is there to help him, palimino horse of life. He will be an old, old grandpa. Ten thousand and one, another brother to find. I will help on this side and that. Boating, you say, sorry can’t turn this into a question as the question mark isn’t working right, little things. Look Higher. What can I do to help? There it is! Pictures of the Shuswap Lake to share with you perhaps, love that word. Classic Latin too.
