Hello, Hello, Nice to see you again. Well I can’t actually see you, but it has been awhile anyway. You have been very patient with me. “Thank You” for awaiting the next update… Still trying to learn about the weblogging process and working with photos and now digital ones too. There have been some changes in the background here, hopefully it has not affected any previous or further posts. So if you are ready, let’s see what kind of pictures we want to have a look at in this update. After all, we are in the last week of April, 2008 that is, for those of us “Out of Towners” who only get to town once a month or so. It has been a first week for the Western Painted Turtles and other reptilian reptiles to emerge or unsubmerge from their winter hibernacula. So as promised “Attention Diane” quess what is coming up later!! Will you wait and then read on? I sure hope so. Although I hope you don’t mind some of this stuff is more than 40 years old! Please read on. It will be OK. You are not alone.
Will You Wait?
Yesterday the ice came off the lake, and gradually, the waterfowl moved out to the open water. Except for the dabblers of course. The beaver family have been quite active. Now having a boat back in the water, paddling quietly past their lodge, reveals the whimpering of their new pups inside. The adults are feasting on new growth which is still submerged in the shallows. It may possibly be Yellow Pond Lily shoots that they are pulling out and bringing to the surface to eat. Our special visitor also feeds in the shallows. He practises new wing tactics on the unsuspecting Canada Geese or ducks with his swift and sharpened flybys. He frequents the lake in duckling season too. It is the survival that is in question. Where do they have left to go. For how long? Will they be? He flys with a captured fish, the ice along the shoreline was only open for ten feet out, but he caught his dinner. Brazen he is.
Brazen and the Captured Fish
In the last couple of days Spring really proved her point. It is so nice to get back outside again. We have family coming out this summer. I can hardly wait. Other good stuff happening too! Don’t get me started, we could be here for awhile. Cause if you like these pictures, I have a lot more! Did I mention Argus, Clotho and the sunlight reflecting and refracting on the iron strong spinnings or my summer series? My butterfly blouse with co-incidences? Or the thick swirls of thousands and thousands of …….. Well that is another story! Au courant, au courant!
Nice to Get Outside
Attention Diane – Here it is
Another creature enjoying the outside after a long winter. I call this photo:
”What did Diane say?”

Ok, Sorry about that Diane, but you knew sooner or later it would show up Write here in the Shuswap. I have several more but we will save them for another day. I promise “no spiders”. Well maybe if I get a good picture, we could have at least one in here? Jane? What do you think? Well perhaps I could get an updated photo of little Fortis. Although Smudgy and I have not seen him yet this spring, but my little striped Mephitis mephitis (of whom Smudgy will be modeling her Halloween costume after this year) does leave a hint in the air of a late night visit to the compost bin.
Another amazing fact here at the end of April is that our blog stats are simply and truly stupendous. We have now entered the 4 digit count. Thank you for viewing this homemade blog of old slides, young photos, dear friends here and lost and strong families values. Oh yes the numbers. Well we are at 1030. Wow. And “No” that is not a typing error. The number really is 1030. Could not of done it without all of you. Until the next update. Hopefully sooner than later. Bye for now from the Shuswap!
