Hello, nice of you to stop in again, Write here in the Shuswap. I trust you will find or read something here perhaps out of the ordinary. Always “Family Rated” though!
Treasures of the North
Still a pile of snow in the yard, fence lines have disappeared and had to call in the grader again. I couldn’t image living anywhere where, there wasn’t any snow. But I sure wouldn’t mind visiting for awhile! Although, now that we are into the second week of March, our remaining snow pack of almost 2 feet will drop fast. The snow banks are another story.
Yeah the Grader is here
I hope you enjoyed “My Rock Collection” as I plan on moving forward to more adventurous adaptations of life out here, off the main power grid. Hence, the invention of Satellite Internet should of changed our lives in most aspects…… but we just don’t know what they are yet. A couple of light-bulbs on, and an extension cord each, have always been good enough. Although these computer challenges are just that, but it is good to get the mind in motion and progress. The challenges, will eventually be overcome, technical, digital or other wise. Friday, finally and frogs.
And speaking of frogs, they will be starting to croak very soon, even with the snow still covering the ground. There are now small areas of open water in the marsh and bare ground showing up along the shoreline daily. Spring is happening and we can be sure of that, as soon as the frog living under our cabin, croaks every time he hears the water turned on in the bathtub. And yes, moving out to the Garden in the summer has it’s benefits, flowers and frogs too!
Old time garden
I can see the stars better from the garden. Straight up in a blacken sky. Shooting stars and moving objects, it makes me wonder. One day will we know? Or do they now? Where is the Artist, she is at the show, a wall of fine images from the heart and brush of primaries. All together they make one, such splendor and talent combined, it is the dedication too and what.
I have an updated preview of the latest Winter Photos for you. Yes, back to the snow….. The male Red-winged Blackbirds have returned already. They look magnicent against the vibrant white snowy background. Which seems to me, just about every movie I have seen about Canada, has a white and snowy background too! Although, there was a dog-sled team at our gates one day. Oh well, what the heck. We are Canadian!
More Snow
This photo certainly needs to be in here somewhere. Before we know it, the summer pictures will be out. Back to the Shuswap Lake and perhaps a little boating and a way bigger bathing suit this year. There have been many reflections over the years. Now each one must be looked at clearly, I can only begin to wonder about so many things, the words, declensions, conjugations and we haven’t even got to the numbers yet. What will they tell, are we ready to listen. It is time, it always has been, the humanity calls. Time, place, persistence and the reflections, history they call it. Time. Mirabile dictu.
Shuswap Lake
Here is another Shuswap resident with his fine crest and an even finer mimic of the Red-tailed Hawk. Quite persuasive when it comes to bird seed and always appreciative of the odd stink bug thrown out the front door for a tasty treat. Everybody is happy. Four Robins have showed up at the feeder, Gray Jays, Dark-eyed Juncos, Northern Flickers, Red-Breasted Nuthatches, Black-Caps, a lovely Varied Thrush or two. Also several other small notables and a couple larger flocks. So much activity in fact, that Smudgy had to go outside to have a look for a few minutes. And all that activity usually gets the attention of small bird hawks or owls. I need to be quick with my camera and bird book this year.
Steller’s Jay

Happy Birthday Party
